| Updated information on BK117 and CBS5 rotor blade repairs
CTI has recently attended Eurocopter rotor blade repair training course in Germany as part of CTI training program. The majority of the course consisted of training on the lead weight (tuning mass) bulge repair for the BK117 and CBS5 main rotor blades.
This newly approved repair procedure for the BK117 and CBS5 was developed to reduce and/or eliminate the growth of the bulge in the two tuning masses located in the blade. The repair for the BK117 main rotor is composed of five bolts that are bonded into the outboard tuning mass and three bolts bonded into the inboard tuning mass. Specialized tools have been ordered to perform these critical operations. The major benefit of the new bolt repair is the repair cost that will only be a fraction of the current blade exchange price.
