CTI Worldwide Network Responds...

Since its opening in 1972, CTI has developed value-adding partnerships with helicopter manufacturers by working under OEM licensing. In two instances, CTI was called upon to respond to AOG situations due to its long-term relationship with OEMs and global presence.

In response to Agusta Aerospace Corporation's need for tip cap replacement in Brazil, CTI deployed trained technicians and special tooling to Brazil. Experienced CTI technicians worked with local Agusta technical support to complete 51 tip caps within 8 weeks. All repairs were performed under the CTI quality system at Agusta authorized service center.

Communication and a focused resolve between CTI and Agusta resulted in a rapid response to Brazilian operators. The program concluded as a success.

In May, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation requested services of CTI as a result of a Service Alert Bulletin, which specified specific serial numbers of S76 main rotor blades were to be removed from aircraft due to cracks at the root of the blade.

Together, Sikorsky and CTI organized to dispatch technicians worldwide. CTI trained within ten (10) days technicians from its facilities in England, Australia and Brazil to repair blades in their respective territories. In a month period, a total of fifty-six (56) S76 main rotor blades were put back to serviceable condition by CTI worldwide.

Coordination and cooperation between Sikorsky and CTI facilitated the program to be a success. Sikorsky recognized the benefits of having CTI as a licensed service center with a worldwide network.

"Our practice is to provide rotor blade repairs under OEM license. This guarantees commercial operators a global value-added service as well as direct access to the OEM technical standards and engineering support. The effort put forth by Agusta, Sikorsky and the CTI team was impressive and proves what teamwork can achieve." Michael Topa, President of CTI says when commenting about field repairs and capabilities.
